Iran’s Supreme Leader Vows to “Slap” Israel Over Strikes on its Syria Consulate | Firstpost America
After blaming Israel for striking its consulate building in Syrian Capital Damascus, Iran has now threatened to hit back. Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Israel would be slapped and its regime in Gaza is close to its decline. Khamenei’s warning follows reported Israeli airstrikes on the Iranian consulate that killed seven Revolutionary Guards, including two commanders from Quds Force, which is the Revolutionary Guards' foreign operation arm. Iran Blames the US as well for the strikes. However, the US officials have said that Washington did not have any prior information about the attack. Reports suggest amidst warnings from Iran, Israeli Defence forces have beefed up their air defences and have called up their reservists. Measures to tighten security also coincide with Hezbollah’s increased rocket attacks on Israel, following strikes on the Iranian consulate.
