The US is seeing more indications that Russia & Iran are expanding an unprecedented defense partnership. As per Washington, the cooperation is helping Moscow prolong its war in Ukraine & poses a threat to Iran's neighbors. Drones are the primary military help Iran provides to Russia, seeking to acquire advanced-level types.
US National Security Adviser said Iran has provided Russia with over 400 drones since August. The US will announce additional designations targeting increased military cooperation between Russia & Iran. Drones, remote or pre-programmed, have been used extensively in battles. Drones gather intelligence, deliver explosives & can even launch missiles and fly away.
In the 2020 Armenia-Azerbaijan war, Azerbaijan relied heavily on drones & loitering munitions. They allowed Azerbaijan to shrink the battlefield & chip away at Armenia’s armored forces & logistical tail. With drones, Russia is hitting targets, crushing morale & draining Ukraine's war chest.
