Ukraine, the breadbasket of Europe, is a battlefield. Export routes through the Black Sea to Africa and the Middle East are blocked. Global supplies of fertilizer – and with it crop yields – are in jeopardy. Not for decades has the world faced such potential for a real food crisis. What if anything can be done to alleviate the mounting shortages and skyrocketing prices? Should biofuel producers redirect grain production to make up for shortages elsewhere? Can advances in agricultural technology make a difference in the short run? Enrique López Lecube, Chief Financial Officer, Bioceres Crop Solutions; Ertharin Cousin, CEO and Managing Director, Food Systems for the Future; Maurício Rodrigues, President for the Crop Science Division in Latin America, Bayer; Marcela Escobari, Assistant Administrator, USAID’s Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean speak with Carol Massar, Anchor, "Bloomberg Businessweek", Bloomberg Television and Radio at the Bloomberg New Economy Gateway Latin America.
