The war in Ukraine is creating a disastrous crisis in the world’s food supplies that could last for years, according to the World Trade Organisation.
Ukraine is a major global exporter of wheat, contributing 9% of the global market. It accounts for a massive 42% of the global sunflower oil market and 16% of the world's maize.
However millions of tonnes of grain are sitting in warehouses and Ukrainian ports unable to be exported due to the war.
African countries are being hit especially hard by wheat and fertilizer shortages, according to the WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
