The metrological department is warning that nine counties are at risk of acute food shortage in arid and semi-arid areas. This follows its latest forecast, which indicates some regions will experience average to below average rainfall during the March-April-May 'long rains' season. The weatherman is further urging sector players to prepare for the extreme weather events by putting in place proper mitigation measures in anticipation of reduced rains in some parts of the country.
