NASA's James Webb Space Telescope captured the first-ever images of galaxies with stellar bars at a time when the universe was just 25% of its current age. Stellar bars are elongated features of stars that stretch from the center of galaxies out into their outer disks. The discovery of these barred galaxies, similar to our own Milky Way, has led scientists to reevaluate their theories on galaxy evolution
